Great Math Means Future Success!

My name is Nicole Severino and I am the math teacher at Z067. I grew up on Long Island where I continue to live and raise my family. I have 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy. I have been teaching Pre-K at Z067 for 7 years! Five years prior coming to Brooklyn, I was a permanent substitute teacher on Long Island where I taught Kindergarten through 5th grade.

In June of 2015, I decided I was ready to move on and applied to The Department of Education. In September 2015, I was hired as a Pre-K classroom teacher. As the Pre-K For All program began at that time, I consider myself lucky to have been able to build the program from the beginning.

In April of 2019, I became a Math Specialty Teacher. I love teaching math and being able to focus on building mathematical skills. Building mathematical concepts in pre-K gives the students the opportunity to have a foundation and understanding that sets them up for mathematical success in their future. In my classroom, I have various centers that focus mainly on building mathematical thinking skills. The students are able to move freely around the classroom and play while building these skills.

At Z067, we use The Building Blocks Curriculum. Building Blocks Curriculum is designed to develop early mathematical knowledge that uses individual, small, and large-group activities. Building Blocks also offers interactive, hands- on activities using real-world exploration through manipulatives, computers, books, and more. Building Blocks emphasizes conceptual thinking and reasoning to improve skill acquisition and develops learning aligned with state and national standards. Each week we learn something new and build on their previous knowledge!

Math concepts we learn include:

  • Number and Operations

  • Geometry

  • Measurement

  • Patterns

  • Algebra

  • Data Analysis and Classification.

I truly enjoy watching the children grow throughout the year. It is a great privilege to be able to make positive contributions to these young children and to be part of their first school experience.

Hindi language ko effective banane ke liye grammar ka role bahut bada hota hai. Agar hume words ka gender pata ho to sentence automatically correct ho jata hai. Isi wajah se ling in hindi ka regular practice karna chahiye.

This is such a sweet post, Nicole! Love how you're building those strong math foundations in Pre-K with hands-on play and the Building Blocks curriculum—it really sets kids up for success long-term. Watching them grow must be so rewarding. As a parent juggling work and helping with older kids' homework, online assignment help has been a game-changer to keep things balanced. Thanks for sharing your passion!

I loved reading that piece on how strong early math skills lay the groundwork for later achievement in school from District 20 Pre‑K Centers. It really resonated how hands-on learning with blocks, games and real-life math ideas helps children develop conceptual understanding of number, geometry and patterns. And it even had me thinking about my own studies sometimes I dream of signing up for an online accounting class just to challenge myself in a similar foundational way.

Great post! I totally agree that great math skills play a big role in shaping future success they build problem-solving and analytical thinking that help in every academic field. While studying in the UK, I realized that strong writing and editing are just as important as strong math. Recently, I got an assignment at my university and needed timely help, so I decided to hire UK essay editor from Academic Editors. Their editing support really improved my work and helped me meet my deadlines easily.

It’s inspiring to see how early math education can shape a child’s confidence and problem-solving skills! Reading this reminds me of how educators like you lay strong foundations. I recently had to get blog posts written about education, and this kind of passion makes the content truly meaningful.
